Practicing the Art of Longevity

Weekend Workshop

After welcoming the participants, Vittorio presents highlights of the group work for Saturday and Sunday. He explains his strong belief that we cannot achieve longevity through scientific knowledge because science, as it is applied in the present day, follows a highly analytical approach; it is often looking for “miraculous” remedies; and it is tied to economic interests and power groups.

Life can be a process of continuous transformation instead of a decline, because we all have the full potential of unlimited growth. We can think of the Art of Longevity as a consciously achievable target, and put more emphasis on the creative, personal and socially engaging aspects of our search.

Vittorio shares his own experience of some human cultures that could soon become extinct. They have indeed realized the goal of a long and peaceful life on the basis of wisdom principles that have been passed on through many generations.

So, the path to a healthy and happy life is not an inaccessible secret. It is based on several simple and essential factors, most importantly including:

Appropriate physical activity

Correct breathing

Healthy and revitalizing nourishment, based on principles that great civilizations have applied for thousands of years

Balanced and flexible mental and emotional mindset that can deal with the constantly changing environment we live in.

On Saturday morning we begin the fascinating experience of how our bodies work by performing Hatha Yoga and Dynamic Yoga exercises that enable us to achieve a correct and balanced lifestyle.

During this two-day workshop we explore the different aspects of Dynamic Yoga including: asanas, purification exercises, corrective exercises, specific practices to balance and strengthen internal organs. Handouts help to memorize some important exercises.

Before lunch, participants start practical learning of how to get the most out of their daily diet while meeting their own personal needs and social constraints. Expert chefs guide the group through the final stages of meal preparation, and provide valuable information about carrying on this practice once back home (recipes, recommended books, personal tips, on so on).

In the afternoon we resume work on the body, and include group exercises. We end with relaxation and meditation practice.

Saturday evening after dinner is free to get together, listen to the music, sing, dance, share, etc.

Sunday starting with morning exercises, we continue deepening the psycho-physical aspects of self-care.

In the afternoon we focus on the most effective way to clarify and then achieve one's goals freeing the magic resources within ourselves.

In closing the workshop we summarize our main learning and answer any remaining questions. We strengthen our commitment to continue leading a healthy and conscious life as a goal that arises from our awareness. Keeping contact with other members of the group is encouraged so that everyone may feel part of a community of mutual support.
